A. Ground School

Regulations & Procedures

  • Private pilot privileges, limitations, and flight operations
  • Accident reporting requirements (NTSB)
  • Aeronautical decision making (ADM) and judgment

Aeronautical Knowledge

  • Principles of aerodynamics and aircraft systems
  • Powerplants and performance factors
  • Effects of density altitude on takeoff and climb

Navigation & Charts

  • Aeronautical charts for VFR navigation
  • Pilotage, dead reckoning, and navigation systems
  • Radio communication procedures

Weather & Safety

  • Recognition of critical weather situations and windshear avoidance
  • Use of aviation weather reports and forecasts
  • Safe and efficient aircraft operation, collision avoidance, wake turbulence

Preflight & Planning

  • Weight and balance computations
  • Stall and spin awareness, recovery techniques
  • Runway length, performance planning, fuel requirements, and alternates

B. Flight Training

Core Flight Skills

  • Preflight preparation and procedures
  • Airport operations and communications
  • Takeoffs, landings, and go-arounds

Maneuvers & Navigation

  • Performance maneuvers and ground reference maneuvers
  • Slow flight, stalls, and basic instrument maneuvers
  • VFR navigation and cross-country operations

Advanced Training

  • Emergency operations and scenario training
  • Night operations (per FAA requirements)
  • Postflight procedures and review
